The expertise of French manufacturing for Baby

Le savoir-faire d'une fabrication française pour Bébé

Hello everyone!

Today I'm going to show you the different stages of making my models :-)

It all starts with choosing a high-quality material… I opted for merino wool, a very high-quality wool due to the fineness of its fibers. Three times finer than traditional wool, it doesn't itch. Supple and soft, it's perfectly suited to babies' sensitive skin.

The wool comes from one of the last remaining French spinning mills, the Fonty mill located in the Creuse region. Founded in 1880, this company with its renowned expertise has received the Living Heritage Company label, which distinguishes French companies with outstanding know-how.

I design each model, with timeless shapes adapted for toddlers, with practical openings, then the pattern maker establishes the patterns and the grading.

I collaborate with a French manufacturer specializing in knitwear, with demanding expertise, who ensures impeccable knitting and finishing.

A manufacturing program is then designed for each model: the different parts of the garment come out of the machines according to measurements.
The assembly steps are carried out with care: ironing for dimensional stabilization, stitching, bowl assembly and re-linking.

Mistricotine favors "re-knitted" finishes, meaning the assembly of the different parts of the garment using a manual circular machine called a re-knitter. Stitch by stitch assembly is used for shoulders, collars, waistbands, front and back construction, and sleeves. Re-knitting is a particularly delicate operation that requires equipment and expertise that few workshops in France possess.
