Our baby wrap cardigans are knitted in France from fine merino wool, in sizes 1 month and 3 months. A newborn's first layer of warmth, the wrap cardigan covers the chest and arms, goes over a bodysuit and comes off in one movement: it is the piece that goes into the hospital bag.
Which size to choose?
For a full-term baby, size 1 month fits about 54 cm (21 in) and 4 kg (8.8 lb); size 3 months fits 60 cm (23.5 in) and 5 to 6 kg (11 to 13 lb). Many parents take both: 1 month for the first weeks, 3 months for afterwards. For a baby born early, our preemie wrap cardigans come in preemie size 00, for 40 to 45 cm and 1.8 to 2.5 kg. Our size guide gives every measurement.
Three designs, from birth to the first months
Zouzou, in ecru or taupe, and Zazou, in pink or grey-blue, come in 1 and 3 months. Dadou is knitted in ecru, in 3 months. Every design fastens with buttons, with nothing to pull over the head.
Why merino wool
Merino keeps warmth in when it is cool and lets air through when it is mild: a newborn, who still regulates body temperature poorly, is neither cold nor too warm. It absorbs moisture without feeling damp. Ours is spun by Fonty, a spinning mill in the Creuse holding France's Living Heritage Company label, then knitted and assembled in the Paris region by workshops specialising in knitwear.
Care
Machine wash at 30 °C maximum on the wool cycle, in a laundry bag. Dry flat, away from any heat source, never in the tumble dryer.
