Height matters more than age. A two-month-old may fit into 3-month clothing; another, born earlier, may still wear 1-month. We give size in centimetres and average weight because that's what you measure at the hospital, at home, before you order.
Garments — cardigans, jumpsuits, sweaters
| Age | Height | Average weight | Waist | Chest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Preemie 00 | 40 to 45 cm | 1.8 to 2.5 kg | 31.5 cm | 31 cm |
| 1 Month | 54 cm | 4 kg | 36.5 cm | 36 cm |
| 3 Months | 60 cm | 5 to 6 kg | 40.5 cm | 39.5 cm |
| 6 Months | 67 cm | 7 to 8 kg | 44 cm | 43 cm |
| 12 Months | 74 cm | 9 to 10 kg | 46 cm | 46.5 cm |
Merino wool gives a supple knit that moves without restricting. Fully fashioned seams lie flat against the skin. If you hesitate between two sizes, take the larger: your baby grows fast, and the knit rolls up without hindering.
Hats — head circumference
| Age | Head circumference |
|---|---|
| T1 Preemie | 31/33 cm |
| T2 1 month/3 months | 41/43 cm |
| T3 6 months/12 months | 45/47 cm |
Our hats are hand-knitted, stitch by stitch. The merino jersey follows the head without tightening, even over the fontanelles. A tape measure is enough to measure head circumference, just above the eyebrows.
Booties — foot length
| Age | Foot length |
|---|---|
| T1 Preemie | 7 cm |
| T2 1 month/3 months | 9/11 cm |
Measure the foot from heel to toe, baby lying down. The Loulou booties, hand-knitted, are worn indoors, at home or in the sleeping bag.
Premature babies: sizes 00
Preemie 00 fits babies from 40 to 45 cm and 1.8 to 2.5 kg. All our premature pieces are made in Île-de-France, with flat seams that don't rub, wide openings to limit handling, and the same wool as the rest of the collection — because a baby born early deserves the same softness.
Preparing a hospital bag or putting together newborn essentials? Order one size above the height announced at the scan: your baby will wear these pieces for several weeks, and the knit grows with them.
My baby is 58 cm tall: which size should I choose?
For a baby measuring 58 cm, we generally recommend size 3 months, which corresponds to approximately 60 cm and 5 to 6 kg. Your baby's weight also matters: if they fall between two sizes, opt for the larger one.
Are the sizes the same for girls and boys?
Yes. Mistricotine sizes are identical for girls and boys. The choice is based on your baby's height and weight: for example, size 1 month corresponds to approximately 54 cm and 4 kg.
Can I give a piece as a gift without knowing the exact size?
Yes. If you don't know the baby's precise size, a blanket is a simple solution as it requires no size selection. You can also choose a gift card to let the parents select the piece and size that suit them best.
My baby is between two sizes: which one should I choose?
If your baby's height or weight falls between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size. This allows more room to grow and lets you enjoy the piece longer, without choosing an unnecessarily large size.
