Sets or essentials: what sets them apart
A baby set brings together 2 to 3 coordinated pieces — cardigan, bonnet, booties or baby cardigan and trousers — designed to pair naturally. Each garment can be worn separately, compose a complete outfit or combine with other pieces in the wardrobe.
Newborn essentials gather more pieces to create a complete wardrobe from the hospital: cardigan, bonnet, booties, baby cardigan and blanket. They cover the needs of the first weeks without having to search for each element separately.
The difference lies in the number of pieces and the purpose: a set dresses one day, essentials organise the first days.
A palette designed to coordinate
All pieces are knitted in a harmonious range — ecru, taupe, dusty rose, grey-blue, almond green, celadon — which makes it easy to compose balanced newborn essentials or to pair several sets together.
This chromatic consistency simplifies daily life: a cardigan worn under a jumpsuit, a baby cardigan matched with trousers, a bonnet coordinated with booties. The pieces respond to each other effortlessly.
Three ways to use a set
Day to day
A baby cardigan and trousers form an adaptable outfit for home or outings. a cardigan worn under a baby jumpsuit offers extra protection when the temperature drops. Each piece lives alone or in layers, according to the day's needs.
For the newborn outfit
Worn during the first hours at the hospital, this outfit symbolically marks the child's arrival. Many parents choose for this moment a cardigan, bonnet and matching booties — often the first photograph, the first memory.
To compose complete essentials
Several sets can be brought together to create a wardrobe suited to the first weeks. By combining different coordinated pieces, you gradually create harmonious essentials, easily paired.
Fine merino wool, knitted in France
Each piece is made in 100% fine merino wool, spun by the Fonty mill, founded in the 19th century in Creuse and awarded the Living Heritage Company label. Soft, supple, breathable and naturally thermoregulating, this wool helps baby retain warmth while allowing air to circulate and limiting dampness.
Knitting and making up are carried out in Île-de-France, in small batches. Assembly by linking: this operation consists of picking up each stitch of the knit one by one to obtain refined finishes. The boxwood buttons are made in Jura by a workshop active since 1910.
Bonnets and booties are hand-knitted.
Premature babies and twins
Several sets and essentials are offered in size 00 (40–45 cm, from 1.8 kg), designed for premature babies. The garments truly follow their morphology, without floating.
For families welcoming twins, it is possible to compose two coordinated sets — in identical or complementary colours — to create two harmonious outfits suited to each. You can view our dedicated selection in the Twins collection.
From birth to 18 months, in all seasons
Merino wool naturally thermoregulates: it keeps warm in winter without overheating in summer. Each set can thus be worn year-round, by adjusting the layers according to temperature.
You will find pieces suited to each season in our Winter newborn and Summer newborn collections.
Gift sets ready to offer
Many sets and essentials are also available in gift-ready presentation. Wrapped in our fabric pouch with a name card, they form a complete and thoughtful gift to celebrate a birth. The gift box is complimentary from €90, and the set or essentials arrive ready to give.
If you prefer to personalise your gift, you can compose your own selection from individual pieces — cardigans, bonnets, booties, rompers, blankets — and request a complimentary gift box at checkout. Each piece is chosen from our harmonious palette, so that the final gift remains balanced.
For more flexibility, gift cards are also available, allowing the parents to choose the pieces and sizes that suit them best.
Machine-washable merino wool: care made simple
All our merino wool pieces benefit from a superwash treatment, which allows them to be machine washed at 30°C maximum on a wool or delicate programme, ideally in a mesh bag. They are then dried flat, away from direct heat, without a tumble dryer. The wool retains its softness and shape wash after wash.
This practical care suits the rhythm of the first weeks, when laundry becomes frequent. The garments remain soft and wearable, ready to be passed on.
Any order placed before 12 noon is dispatched the same day. The gift box is complimentary from €90 — a set or essentials can thus be given without extra charge.
What is the difference between a set and newborn essentials?

Can the pieces in a set be worn separately?
Yes. Each piece lives alone or in layers. A baby cardigan is worn over a cardigan, a bonnet pairs with booties from another set. The harmonious palette makes it easy to coordinate everything.
