Newborn essentials designed for winter births

A baby born in winter does not need a pile of layers, but garments that can easily be added or removed as the temperature shifts. Fine merino wool is naturally thermoregulating: it helps baby retain warmth when it's cool while allowing air to circulate when the temperature rises.

The pieces in this collection—cardigans, rompers, blankets, sweaters—are knitted in France in soft, supple merino wool, particularly suited to baby's first garments. Breathable, it also absorbs moisture and helps reduce the feeling of dampness.

Pieces that accompany baby's first months

A December or February birth calls for a wardrobe planned for the long term: baby grows quickly and moves regularly from a heated interior to cooler outings. Our cardigans, sweaters and pullovers allow you to adjust layers easily, while our rompers and trousers complete the wardrobe according to age and time of day.

The Baby Blanket - Tatou and the Baby Blanket - Titou accompany stroller outings or moments in your arms at home. Thanks to the Superwash treatment, the wool can be machine washed at 30°C maximum, on a wool or delicate cycle, then dried flat.

Giving winter newborn essentials

Are you looking for a gift for a birth expected between November and March? A coordinated set allows you to offer several useful pieces for baby's first days and weeks. Our newborn sets and layettes bring together, depending on the model, cardigans, bonnets, booties, trousers or blankets. You may explore our gift selection to discover the coordinated pieces we offer.

The gift box is offered from €90 of purchase. Any order placed before 12 noon is shipped the same day, excluding weekends and public holidays. If you prefer to let the parents choose the pieces, sizes and colours, our gift card gives them that freedom.

Garments adapted for premature babies

For a baby born prematurely, the premature size 00 corresponds to approximately 40 to 45 cm and 1.8 to 2.5 kg. The garments are designed in proportions adapted to small builds, with a soft, supple knit that accompanies baby's first movements.

The Cardigan - Zazou Premature and the Cardigan - Dadou Premature are among the models offered for the smallest babies. Merino wool helps preserve their warmth while allowing the skin to breathe and limiting the feeling of dampness. These garments are particularly suited to the journey home, once the medical team authorises dressing.

Entirely French production

The wool is spun in Creuse by the Fonty mill, founded in the 19th century and labelled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant. The knitting and making of the baby garments are carried out in Île-de-France, with our French knitwear specialists.

The pieces are made in small batches with particular attention paid to the quality of the knit and the finishes. The bonnets and booties are hand-knitted in France. When the models feature boxwood buttons, these are made in the Jura by a manufacturer established since 1910.

Merino wool for the first weeks

Merino wool is renowned for its softness and its naturally antibacterial properties. It does not scratch and is suited to sensitive skin. Thermoregulating, it adapts to baby's body temperature and helps maintain gentle warmth without overheating. Breathable, it allows air to circulate and helps reduce the build-up of moisture.

The Superwash treatment applied to our wool makes it easier to care for: machine washable at 30°C maximum, on a wool or delicate cycle, in a laundry net, with gentle spinning. Always dry flat, never in a tumble dryer. These garments are designed to be passed down and to accompany several children in the same family.

Pieces that grow with baby

The knit is designed to be supple and to adapt to baby's movements. During the first months, baby grows quickly: a garment chosen in the size above allows you to anticipate this growth while remaining comfortable. The pieces in this collection are designed to be layered and combined according to the season and the temperature, indoors or outdoors.

Our cardigans feature wood or mother-of-pearl buttons and can be worn open or closed. The trousers and rompers are designed with elastic waistbands or adjustable ties for easy dressing. Each piece is designed to be practical and to make daily life easier for parents.

What garments should I plan for a baby born in winter?

Plan several pieces that are easy to layer: 3 to 4 cardigans for the first weeks, 2 to 3 trousers or rompers, a sweater to add a layer when the temperature drops, as well as a bonnet, booties and a blanket. The aim is to be able to adapt the outfit easily between a heated interior and outings. For the hospital, always check the list provided by the facility.

What size should I choose for a birth expected in January or February?

The 1-month size corresponds to approximately 54 cm and 4 kg and often suits the first weeks. The 3-month size corresponds to approximately 60 cm and 5 to 6 kg: it allows you to anticipate baby's growth and will be useful a few weeks later, still in the depths of winter. For a premature or small-build baby, the premature size 00 corresponds to approximately 40 to 45 cm and 1.8 to 2.5 kg. Consult our size guide to choose according to baby's stature and weight.
